guys bought a 62 ford truck that had a 1967 ford Dorset 243 4 cylinder diesel and 4 speed from a 67 ford bread van put in it. found the original builder today and he told me the engine was built in England and he built 2 trucks with these engines. I cant find any info on these engines but a spreed sheet that shows them for one year only. thinking of building a bucket rod with this setup for super good fuel mileage. The builder said f100 would get a little over 25mpg at 55-60-mph. I was thinking with a 2000-2400lb rod with this engine and hwy gears that it would be possible for 30-35mpg. engine is 70-80hp at 2700-3100rpm. Hope to be able to turbo it with 5-10lbs boost. builder still had new rods and pistons in his shop and they are very heavy duty and hope to find gaskets and parts for rebuilding if needed. tranny is he thought a borg warner 4 speed. builders personal truck he used for 25 years and he said he put over 400000 miles on it with the only issue was head gasket blowing out. Let me know if any of yall know any thing about these engines.
