help water in fuel light

Well the WIF light came on last week on my way home from Maryland. Stopped drained the HFCM went on my way. Two days ago it came on again did the same thing (drained it till no more came out) then yesterday it came on again drained it this morining except the light didn't go out this time. Could it be a bad senser and would that be covered under the Engine Warranty since I have 38K on it now. I think i read somewhere that something goes wrong with this sensors and that it is under the engine warranty but can't find where I saw it.
