Bypass your heater core for the hot months. Seal up any holes in your fire wall and make sure any shift boots are 100% in tact. The boot for my 5 speed is shot and the air comes in through it like its from the gates of h e double hockey sticks.

I assume this is when you are driving down the road, What year is your truck?

One thing that most don't think about is the Cowl to top of Firewall Seal. There is a gasket under there that when it gets old, it just dissipates and crumbles, This lets all of the heat from the engine compartment, pour into the cowl, and into the cabin.

You can feel it with your fingers and if it is still there it will probably crumble to the touch.

Remove the wipers, antenna, and pull the cowl off. It can be replaced with normal 3M type foam tape from the hardware store.

Where in MI are you located,.?

Put a haligen work light in your engine bay at night shining at the fire wall. look inside for light coming through. You can use seam sealer, in the body section at your local parts bin or get some clear silicone, better than nothing. Also you can dynomat the floor boards. The passenger side especially gets hot because the exhaust runs close to it. I thought about extra heat sheilds underneath on my rig, my girl couldn't put her feet on the floor when I was towing in the mountains and the EGT's were high:eek:

insulate under carpet, insulate around ac evaporator box /fan with double foil backed foam , insulate in door panels, behind rear seat , roof if bold enough

I am betting you have a vacuum leak and the blend door is not staying in the cool air position. Soon as you shut off the air the heater blows hot air and heats the cab.

Cheap way to check is to remove the heater hoses at the heater [cab side] and connect them with a cheap barb connector, cutting the heater core out of the mix. Run your AC for a while and shut it off... if you don't get a hot cab right away.... problem identified.

Step 1) Place belongs into cardboard boxes

Step 2) Load truck

Step 3) Print and follow this link http://classic.mapquest.com/maps?1c...s=MI&2y=US&2l=46.627289&2g=-85.037369&2v=CITY

Step4) Enjoy a high of 76 today not 89.

Seriously though; check for air leaks, make sure shifter boots for trans and t-case are down, possibly replace firewall insulation, tint windows, paint the roof white. You never mentioned what color the truck is so the steel for the roof my be hot and that is why you are getting toasty.

My Crewcab was always hot when I had it going. The A/c worked great, but the cab seemed to heat up as quick as the a/c poored in. Now I had cracks in the floor, bad weatherstripping etc. Now that I tore it down i insulated the underside of the cab and inside the cab with sound deadening and Insulation. I also did both sides of the firewall and back wall. I also sprayed the roof. I'm planning to put stick on deadening in the doors as they seemed really hard to spray. I also plan to put in carpet with insulation on it. I'm also going to insulate the a/c box on the engine side. I also plan to put in the 1/2" think firewall pad to help insulate it better again.

So I'm going for complete overkill on insulation since I had my cab down. I would tell you to insulate anything you can. These trucks have very little insulating from the factory. Also I think tinted windows is a great idea. Cold/hot crewcabs must be common as a buddy of mine pulled winter coats out of the rear doors on one truck he bought.

My 1993 regular cab seems to have the same issue. Once the a/c's off it heats right up. Doesn't hold the cool at all.
