gutting an old tranny

Im rebuilding a c6 for my 85 6.9 and turns out my buddy has got an e40d on the hill from the same year. I cant find 6 pinion planetaries for my tranny for less that 350 bucks and by my reckoning ill take my friend up on buying that old e40d and gut the thing.
anybody got some imput on parts that swap over? Im looking forward to a lower first and second. Hell im really looking forward to a working transmission too seeing as how reverse took a **** on me.

The E4OD was not offered in 1985. 1989 up only.

Not all E4OD's came with 6 pinion planetaries, so don't assume your buddy's spare will have them.

Did you already tear down the C6? How do you know the reverse gear itself is bad? The hard parts of a C6 don't usually fail.

Keep the C6 and throw away the E40D.
