so..
if i wanted to use a GTP-38 on a non computerized engine, without a boost ref,
how would i go about this?
the actuator is ran by boost pressure?
if this is correct, i can run the actuator off anywhere downstream of the incoming boost pressure?

one project is a GTP38 on a 97 PSD,
the other one is going on an IDI shortly, if i can find one

This may help. Had to take pic off computer screen. Adobe won't let me print or copy it. If you need it clearer let me know and I can fix it in Piccasa.

Use a manual boost controller instead. The factory WGCS bleeds off some boost to change when the wastegate opens.

EX: Wastegate spring is set to 8 lbs, so it would normally open at 8 lbs of boost, but you want 14 psi. A manual boost controller or WGCS would bleed off 6 psi so that the turbo puts out 14 but the wastegate only receives 8.

A manual boost controller would have to be dialed in through trial and error.

It's pretty common to source the boost reference right off the compressor housing, for faster response or something like that... it will obviously drop off some after the intercooler, so I'd plug a gauge sensor in right at the intake manifold.

I was more or less just showing how there hooked up. Don't know why you couldn't just tap into the intake side with the red line, the gate is normally closed. Don't know but worth a try.

You should have your Pkg. today.

^^^^^ Um, if that hose doesn't have the sensor attached, and isn't blocked off, that would mean you're leaking boost out that hose. No?
