My dually and my dad's 97 crew stroke both had the inverted double flare union. That line rusting out is as common as anything on these fords. Usually they rust and rub a hole through the line right at a frame clip near the midship fuel tank. When this happens, I don't mess around and I replace from the rear rubber hose all the way to the valve on the frame.
