VIN decoder tells you what engine the truck came with originally. But by definition, an '86 came with a 6.9. The OP is looking to find out what's in it now. Is the original EPA valve cover decal still there?

We try not to refer to right and left when we talk about locations. Instead we use the passenger or drivers side so nobody gets confused on sides. We try to make things easier for everyone.

Our Aussie members would be confused by this (or they would confuse us ).

Left and right ALWAYS refer to the VEHICLE. Would you trust a doctor who told you you needed critical surgery on, say, your right "jewel", only to find out he meant _his_ right?....

And yes, you need SCA. The way the price of add-in SCA has shot up recently, FleetCharge is now usually a better deal.

I've been in situations where people are working under a vehicle, and when "right" or "left" are used, there's confusion over whether the person's referring to the right/left side of the vehicle or of the person. While you're right about using "driver's side/passenger's side" being a potential issue for members from Australia or the U.K., I've found that using "right/left" are considerably more confusing.

Ive got four gallons of coolant in this thing after draining the block and it dont seem to be taking any more. Even tried adding coolant with engine running?

I have always greatly preferred driver's side/ passenger side. Right/left is confusing to me. Right side as you're looking at the vehicle or is it right side as the vehicle faces? The latter method is simply more clear.

It was pretty much empty. I left the block drain bolts out when i flushed the radiator out. There is rusted out plow mount that makes hard to get the lower radiator house clamp off. Gotta get that thing off there.

Will a a core support of an 86 f250 work on my 86 f350. My lmc book only covers f150 and f250. I would assume there is no difference?

F250 and 350 are the same. The question is diesel of gas. As far as I know LMC doesn't have the core support for the tall radiator (super cooling option I believe its called). Most of the trucks with AC and or automatic trans had that giant radiator and the hoop on the bottom is different. Do a search on here. There are a couple good threads on the differences. I seem to remember riotwarrior having side by side pics of diesel and gas supports. The thing I am not sure about is if the short wide diesel is the same as the gasser support. I have seen guys take the lower hoop off a diesel support and graft it on to a gasser support without too much trouble.
