Good place to tap into for key on 12v power?

Where is a good spot to tap in my egt gauge for key on power? Also, which wire for dash lights?
Actually, does anyone have an under dash wiring diagram of these things?

There should be one, maybe two unused KOPO circuits on the fuse box.

I've used these when there is no open circuit

There should be a couple of UN-FUSED key-ON=HOT terminals in the fuse-block.

It has been my observation that FORD wired these trucks as fire-traps; I do not recommend taxing the already over-taxed system any more than it already is.

What I did (before I completely eliminated the key-switch) was to tap into that source and use it as a trigger-wire that operated a relay that powered up a 6-fuse panel.

Thus, I had six FUSED key-ON=HOT terminals that proved handy for a number of accessories.


Now, I still have this panel, triggered by a toggle-switch; and, I also have a big constant-duty solenoid/relay that powers up all the bigger stuff, such as wipers, blower, etc.

That is what I did; y'all can do whatever.

Midnight, that is something id like to do, but thats a decent sized project. I want to build a switch box for various other aux lights and accessories. For now, ill just have to find something. Im going o probe the power window male harness see whats key on power. But need to find something thats lightson power as well, so gauge lights turn on with driving lights.

If using one of those pictured fuse-taps, ascertain which side of the fuse is the "COLD" side and put the tap on that side.

Otherwise, you will need to fuse the added circuit CLOSE to the source.

I have seen many instances where there was a fuse-tap on BOTH blades of a fuse.
