As some of you know i am putting in a 7.3IDI in my 89 F-150. I will keep people up to date with the build. If someone ever buys my gasser powertrain down here i can get a cheap donar truck to try and finish it. Here is where i sit. i just recently turned 20 and my mom is the only one who supports me with this build so its all me. and i hate to ask but if anyone is near me with any "Freebies" as in parts to help me push forward with my build i would be very happy. Im not the type of person to ask for free stuff but my window is closing. and i gotta be moved to south georgia at the end of the year. ok here is one of the main scoops of my build. being i am trying to move to southern georgia, my mother has had cancer 4 times already and she has been going all over the place because of it and my gasser will break me if something ever happens to her while im living down there so alot of this build is for my mother who wants me to put a diesel in this truck and it will not break me trying to come back up. So if anyone would be willing to lend a hand i would appreciate it very very much

I just turned 20 as well and support myself with my projects as well as school so I know where you are coming from. If you are not in a stable solution, you should stick with more stock stuff just because it will be simpler. A gasser will be fine for a few years. Save the IDI project for later. if there is something wrong with the gasser, address that and it will be cheaper and easier just because you will not have to change much. It is all the little details that bog down swap projects and you will not realize just how many details there are until too late. Noting would be worse than having no truck at all IDI or gasser.

I understand where you are at - I have been out of work since December/Jan with 2 children, yes my wife works but trust me it ain't much.

I agree with putting the build off for a while. What you might consider is like what I did, sell the truck and get a small car that gets good gas mileage and do that until things financially get better. I picked up a 1995 Olds Cutlass Ciera with a 3.1L V6 for $600 that is getting mid to upper 20's for gas mileage and with gas being cheaper than diesel along with cheaper insurance is getting us by. Shop around and see what you can find - you will amazed that you can still pick up a decent car for under a grand.

check out junk yards they are usually pretty cheap and over the holidays they have big sales.
