getting 17v on volt gauge?

volt gauge getting 17v after battery replacement batterys went dead tryed jumping then replaced with two 800 cc batteries new. 91 f350. did i fry the alt/ reg?

2nd that on the voltage at the batteries. If it is that high get the voltage regulator replaced immediately before it hurts something

17 volts...... bad.


As said, a voltage regulator you are in need of.

Thats funny because when i have fried the voltage regulator, i never got a charge, never more voltage.

It can go either direction. I've seen a alternator charge so high it caused the battery to blow, thank the lord no one was leaned over it at the time

X3 Ya Replace the regulator before you blow the batteries, good thing they are new, old batteries could blow real quick, hell of a mess and might blind or burn someone badly.

14.2 to 14.5 volts should be max charging. Alternator won't last long either charging 17 volts
