gear oil what type trans and diff

ok i have a zf5 and a 10.25 rear end im thinking, Now i tried searching for it and went to the a-holes at autozone and i didnt wanna trust them with my truck trans and diff oil selection. Now all I know is i should use 15 40 rotella in my 6.9 but what type of lube or oil in my trans and diff?

trans synthetic atf, i think its mercron 3, i know atf in a manual, but its what zf calls for. I think 3.5qts makes it full.

for gear oil i put in a semi synthetic or whatever valvoline 80w-90 and its running good. Our trucks came with dino 80-90 i recall but a few people are running the full syn. 80w-140 or something I think it took 3 qts in mine.

now i may use my truck to tow would that 80 90 work or the 80 140 be better? fro gear and why atf in a manual? oh well

If you use your truck to tow, get some kind of synthetic ATF in that ZF5. That is what ZF recommends for severe service.
80w90 is correct wt for the rear and a quality synthetic is advised here to help with fuel mileage

If you are going to run dino oil in the engine, Delo would be a better choice. Rotella has a habit of burning off faster

well what name brand do u use RLDSL in ur diff and who should i trust i mena there is alot and i mean delo is for my oil and should i use a lucas oil product for the diff and who makes a really good synthetic atf???

I use Amsoil, but don't consider that an unbiased opinion, I also sell the stuff. There are other synthetics out there that for one reason or another might better suit your needs. I'm running a 30 wt synthetic ATF in my zf5, makes it run a little quieter with the single mass flywheel ( regular ATF is 20wt )

Don't use the lucas additives in your diff. Their oil products are fine, but you don't want to add that thickener stuff unless you have a diff that is falling apart, then it has it's place. If you have noisy gears with excess clearance and it sounds like its falling apart, then go ahead and pour the lucas additive in, good and heavy and it will take up the slack and keep the thing on the road for miles longer, but don't put the additive in a healthy diff.
