One thing I`ll add, when I got the tank it was coated in a light oil to keep it from rusting.
I washed it off with Wax and grease remover.
This stuff, I order it on line and pick it up at O`Really`s.

Clean it off good and then scrub down with that LA Awsome from the $ store.
Then treat it with Phosphoric Acid, and POR it. Sprayed it with that rubber bed coating.

Ford used some canvas impregnated tar strips between the tank and straps. I also painted the straps, then put a thick coating of RTV on the tank and on the straps as a cushion.
This tank will never rust.

I originally thought about the sump, but I don`t have 1000hp under the hood so don`t need a 1/2" supply line. My tired old 100HP 6.9 does ok with sucking it from the top.

I have also seen supply lines going under a larger truck being pulled loose and creating a huge mess.

The main reason I want the sump is for the easy access and simplicity. This will be a daily/work truck, so the most it's gonna get is a turbo in the future, but nothing crazy. I was planning on priming the tank before install and then use the POR15 or fluid film when I do the entire undercarriage of the truck. I was thinking of making a guard around the sump, and the supply lines will be tucked away.

look up a bronco fuel tank gasoline version our sending unit fits directly into it and filler neck also

https://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Prem...allon+tank&qid=1615939994&s=automotive&sr=1-1

https://ecat.spectrapremium.com/products/F8D

as for the sending unit that is easily modified to work

as for a fuel sump kit these work pretty good the square section in bottom of our tank is a perfect fit for it pretty straight forward install

https://www.amazon.com/AirDog-Cummi...fuel+sump&qid=1615939454&s=automotive&sr=1-23

if your tank straps are rough here you go

I haven't gotten around to ordering the parts yet, which may be a good thing since I wasn't sure. how hard is it to make the bronco tank work? I am on the fence about the bronco tank or the F26E tank. I am definitely going to look into the bronco tank, thank you for the link! My main concern is the sending unit, but if I can modify one from a 19 gallon tank, that is fine.

I just got your pm. I was actually clicking on the original link when I got your message, so I didn't notice it Lol. I really appreciate the links, they are exactly what I needed. That seems like a very good price for that.

You shouldn't have to. I used the factory tank in my Bronco. Other than a plugged (inline) fuel filter early on, I didn't have any issues.

Just remember that I was using a tank that had been used for gasoline for years. With a new tank, you shouldn't have any issues at all.
I have a brand new F8B tank waiting to go under the back of my Blue Truck. I haven't messed with dropping the original one yet so I can't confirm or deny the sending units swapping over. It's on my LONG list of things to do. It sucks just using one tank on longer drives.
