My oil level was way higher than the full line all of sudden. I havent checked it in about a week but it was fine and normal prior. But last Thursday my belt broke and it got stuck in the crankshaft and ripped some rubber off my hot line and the knocked the transmission fluid tubing apart. The hot line grounded and sparked the fluid and caused a fire. Fire melt diesel hose and it added fuel to the fire. Literally. I am thinking maybe the fire damaged a gasket or an o ring somewhere. I just was looking for maybe some advice on where to start.

That’s real unfortunate. Most common sources for fuel in oil is the stock mechanical lift pump failing internally, and the injection pump leaking fuel into the crank case. I can pretty much guarantee it’s one of those, most likely the lift pump from the sounds of where the fire started.

What they said. And fuse your hot wire to the pump! That sucks, glad it wasnt worse. Rough day

Yeah the fire was directly under and around the lift pump. Any reason in particular why the lift pump would cause it? I would've thought it just filters the fuel through the filter and allows it to pass through and return. Just curious for the knowledge sake.

There is an arm that goes inside your engine that works the pumping part. If an internal seal in the lift pump goes bad, then fuel will run directly into the engine through the pump.

Thanks, yeah the guy at autozone told me and I've already put it in and drained the oil. Hopefully itll be fixed when I check it in the morning after I get new fittings

I checked it this morning and my oil level is high like before. Not as much but its definitely clearer and higher than normal. I changed the lift pump. The guy at diesel parts of Carolina seemed pretty knowledgeable and said that the injection pump would leak fuel externally because of something I cant exactly remember. He said it could be my injectors but they are 8 dollars a peice to check and I'll have to take them out and take them there.

I found a small piece of metal stuck to the magnetized bolt that goes into the bottom of the oil pan. It came out of the pan after I removed the bolt to drop the oil. Could that be from a injector that got damaged or something along those lines?

there's no way in hell an injector part can make it into the oil pan unless you have a hole in the piston or block. you just eliminated the cheaper of the two fuel sources. and most definitely yes, you can have a injection pump with a leak from the pump drive shaft going into the crankcase. it is rare, but if you already changed the lift pump, that is the only other source other than a injection pump external leak going into the CDR grommet hole on the valley pan. either way, the injection pump is doomed.

Well I believe the engine is misfiring. It is shaking like hell and idles/runs rough intermittently(that may be the fuel in the oil though I assume). Also when it cranks it does one revolution the comes to a stop then starts again and sounds a lot different than it did before.

Also I do know the injection pump has been going out because I have the hot start issue.

Do you think it is possible the injectors could be causing the fuel to get in given what I said.

Also when what I assume is misfiring started just before it a lady next door came by and insisted on putting a little starting fluid in the air intake and against my better judgment I let her because I was late for an appointment and needed to get going. Made a loud knock and after that I had a loud popping coming from the air intake. I read it could've been a bent pushrod or cam. All of a sudden one day is stopped then the rough running started

The only way you could have an injector causing this issue is if was stuck wide open and washing out a cylinder, but you would have a massive smoke show and it would not be drivable. The injection pump needs to be replaced, don’t get a parts store unit or you will be returning it in no time.

Is it chuffing? You probably bent a valve, I hardly see pushrods get bent
