Frozen fuel filter?

Plugged the truck in for 2 hours this morn, went down to 11. Started good. Warmed it up and left for work. I had twice the power I ever had before! Then the fuel filter light came on. At traffic lights it would go out, then go back on. When I pulled up to my shop, it was back to normal and no light. We changed the fuel filter. I will see what happens tomorrow. The fuel filter I understand, but why all the extra power?

Fuel starvation causes a presure change in the injection pump which advances the timing much further than it would be for the throttle position at hand. The power is imaginary. If you had floored it, nothing would have happened.

So the filter was clogged or had water in the bottom and froze. What turns on the fuel filter light? I had the truck 3 weeks and it was doing this slightly going into 3rd gear. Another new guy question, does the seperator drain the water itself out the little hose on the bottom of the filter?

The little hose goes to a drain plug that you must turn if you want to drain it but dont leave it open just enough to see clean diesel fuel coming out.
