Another thing to check is if there is any flow restriction on your return from the hydroboost. Your Cummins PS pump might have more flow than the Ford pump.

That is a good point and I believe it does have more flow than the ford pump but shouldn't it release eventually? When I came back from testing it today I could see smoke coming from the front wheels.

Also if it matters at all after a hard stop the abs light would blink a couple times and the speedo jumped too.

I heard it isn't too difficult to rebuild this MC and I don't want to spend too much to just trow new parts at it does anyone have a way to do this? Maybe I'll buy a rebuild kit and see if that does it.

Thank You.

The reason I know this is when I installed my PS filter I had A similar brake problem. When the brakes were applied with the motor running they wouldnt release propperly, but when the motor was off they would release properly. Maybe you could jack the front up and check for propper releaseing by rotating the tire by hand motor off and running. Remeber to make sure all accumlator pressure is bled off by pumping the brake peddle for your stopped test.

We got a Winner!!!

Al E You where right, the return on the hydroboost didn't have good flow bc it was in a T with the return from the gear box after it went through a filter and the cooler on the radiator. I connected it closer to the pump reservoir (the cummins pump only has 1 inlet for the drain) about 2" from it and now the wheels are loose again. I checked the wheels before with the engine off and then with the engine running and it was loose and locked respectively so I decided to change the arrangement on the power steering returns so it worked and that saved Me the grief to have to rebuild/replace the MC.

Thank You.

Mel Agne (Agnem) did this one My truck at the first mini meet I went. He jumped two wires on the pedal gallery so that the truck think the clutch is depressed when I turn the ignition key to the ON position. Basically it starts like an automatic but it is NOT :D. This was very helpful to Me.

Glad you solved your brake problem.

be careful when you by-pass "safety" devices. Some government bureaucrat has decided what it takes to keep you safe. By-passing the clutch interlock now requires you to think, and disengage the clutch on your own. Are you sure you can safely operate the vehicle? Maybe you should sell it and buy one with all the safe guards in place.

Well I'm the only one who drives My truck no one else get My permission to even sit in it so as long as I know all the safety precaution I have to take there should be no problem I don't like leaving the truck in gear so that should not be a problem for Me and I have My foot on the brakes when I start it.

I was ready to go buy a new MC but since I had to go back home first I thought what You said made sense and tested the wheel. Well now it is nice and loose until I put My foot back in there.

By the way you had it in your sig, I thought you had some secret trick that I hadn't heard yet.

Twisting together the clutch-switch wires is the first thing I do to all of my trucks.

My number one reason being that I feel it is damaging to crank/start the engine with all that stress on the throw-out bearing and clutch-fingers; it is much less traumatic to start with the clutch ENGAGED and the transmission in NEUTRAL.

On one truck, I did a little different than usual and spliced wires onto the switch-wires, after un-hooking them from the switch, then I routed those new wires through a hidden toggle-switch, such that with that switch OFF, no fire goes to the starter; flip the switch ON and then it can start; it is a pretty neat anti-tampering device.;Sweet

Hey midnight the other reason to bypass the stupid clutch switch is it also loads the thrust bearing a lot. My crank grinder said the fleet trucks that were sticks had worn crank thrust surfaces and the automatics didnt. Cold start is not good loaded.
