Ford T19 5.11:1, 4x4. $500. I would consider trading for some dana 60 parts.
didn't the DIESEL T19 have a 4.19 or there bouts 1st...that deeper first is a gasser trans IIRCYes it is. Actually it has no bell-housing so it will bolt up to what you want it to.
FWIW I don't have any solid source to back this up (although my experience supports this), but I've heard that there were two diesel T-19's...the earlier trucks had one variant that was a bit closer to the g@$$er trans ratios (although 1st wasn't a granny gear), and later trucks had ratios that were closer together and closer to the 1-4 gear ratios on the ZF. I know that the T-19 that my truck originally had, 1-3 were all on the low side and there was a big gap between 3rd and 4th...3rd was pretty much wound up by 30 to 35 mph (4.10 axle), whereas 4th was almost too low. The only other T-19 truck I've driven was an '86 with 3.55 gears, and the ratios felt much different.didn't the DIESEL T19 have a 4.19 or there bouts 1st...that deeper first is a gasser trans IIRC
Just sayin
I had a close-ratio T19 and for a lighter and/or lower-geared truck I think it would be great, but it just wasn't working too well at low speed under heavy load. I looked for a 5.11 T19 but at the time found none, same with the 460-specific creeper T19. Had a choice between T18 and creeper NP435, either of which has non-sync 1st that is mildly annoying but whatever, sure beats slipping the clutch. Picked the 435 cause it's got lower gears and cast-iron adapter housing (and there was a 205 hanging off its end that I got as a package deal). Based on my experience with both the close-ratio and the creeper 4-speeds I think the 5.11 would come as the happy medium, of course everyone has different preferences plus I'm shooting for a splitter eventually anyways.
