Flexplate alignment

Some one FTE is having trouble with a flexplate alignment problem and needs an answer as soon as possible to get his van back together. It seems he had it repaired but the machine shop drilled it for a full 10 bolt pattern and didn't leave one blank as per OEM for alignment to the crank shaft. So now he doesn't know what is the correct position anymore.

Here is the thread if some one has the answer or photograph to show the flex plate installed in the correct orientation, or post it here and I can pass on the info:

I would think any auto trans repair shop could get one of these. They are still made. I got a new one with my BTS E4OD and couple of years ago. Brian told me they are everywhere. I'm thinking you are trying to align the welded weights on the plate to the crank bolt pattern now....

Yes, that is his problem. He has the vehicle disabled, the flexplate has been repaired, but he doesn't know the correct orientation of the flex plate to the bolt pattern of the crank shaft because there isn't the missing marker/blank hole anymore.

I take it no one has a loose 92 up flex plate they can take a photo of?

I don't think it makes any difference how he bolts it on. The engine is surely not balanced by the flex plate. The flex plate is balanced by itself, before installing. As I recall on our engine assembly lines, (Ford Lima Engine Plant) there was no orientation involved. The ring gear is welded to the flex plate then balanced in production of it.

I've got a 92 tore down now, will have to look tomorrow to confirm what I said. I'll take a pic of it.
