One will be used. I was planning to find another truck to put the other on so I don't have a price. It will NOT be parted out. Then I'd be looking for parts.

Ahh okay. I ordered some 45 exhaust angles. Gunna see if maybe I hack and cobble something together with the auto up pipe to make it work. Trucks been down almost 3 months now and I just want to drive it again

I just did this a few months ago with an 86. The up pipe was really hard for me to get right but in the end it came together. The only piece of advice I have is make sure you bend the absolute **** out of your firewall where the up pipe passes before installing the transmission. I wish I would have initially bent my firewall much more than I did to make things fit.

Okay so it is possible. Do you happen to have any pictures of what the pipe looked like? And I have already absolutely wailed on the firewall/pinch weld with a sledge hammer. Don't think I can get it any flatter.

Check out post #7. Mine is just like the bottom left one. Unfortunately I didnt take many photos.

I ended up bending my firewall beyond "flat". I read somewhere that some guy used a 2x4 and a jack and jacked up the 2x4 onto the firewall where the pipe crossed. I ended up drilling a 1/2" hole near the seam of the firewall and transmission tunnel and essentially made a homemade dent puller to stretch it wider. You cannot tell I did anything at all from inside the cab with the carpet installed.

I cut my up pipe and welded some bends into it to make it work. The pipe turned out with some not ideal constrictions. After I put the carpet the back in and realized you can't even tell I bent anything I decided that eventually I'm going to redo it with a more efficient shape and bend my firewall even further to make that happen.

How disappointing will the power loss be if I just remove the turbo and go back to N/A? I think modifying these pipes is just simply beyond my means at the moment.
Maybe I can save up enough for a new turbo kit meant for zf5 at a later time but I need to get the truck driving again.

It depends on how you look at it. If you didn't have a turbo on there before, you'll have no power loss. You just won't have any power gains that come from a turbo. The first gen Banks will give you more power than N/A, but it's not capable of much compared to what you can get out of a maxed out Factory Turbo set up.

You will have notable power loss. Make sure you turn your IP down a flat or two, or you'll be overfueling and could melt your pistons.
