Firewall flex fix kit, how hard...?

I have been so lazy the past month after getting my fire wall repair kit i havent even opened the doors on my truck. but its gunna be snowing soon and id like to get it fixed before the white stuff flies so i can park my 93 and get to working on that.

i read the instructions a few times, doesnt seem to hard. how is the install? i needed the large kit so that is what i got. it said something about bleeding the clutch and other fun stuff...is that neccessary?

I didn't have to bleed mine (well, other than I installed a new master and slave before the kit). It takes some time, but it's not really that bad. You have to remove the steering column to some exten as it goes around it. And you have to get in under the cowl, but neither of those are super hard, just takes time. I kept my clutch MC upright and supported and had no issues with air intrusion.

While you have the swing pedal assembly out you might want to replace the plastic bushings that the pedals pivot on.

hmm...i didnt think of that. i should...ill check with my parts guy on a price...have a part number?

I had to buy the whole pedal assembly bracket, it came with new bushings. The bushings wore out on mine and and destroyed the bracket.

Mine as well. LMC lists the bushings though and fordparts.com had them as well. I called them and they looked them right up...I believe they changed their name though.

the bushings are ok but this is a total PITA! i was curled up in a ball practically under the dash. i have the steering column out, brake booster/MC off, clutch MC off, pedals off and the cowl off.

i guess friday, my next day off, ill put the re-enforcement plates on and add some extra sound deadener behind the factory matting...then next monday, day off, ill put it back together.

good news is there were no cracks in the firewall inside or out and everything came out reasonible well...and i know for darn sure the steering column is gunna be close to last to go back in...so much more room with it outta the way.

Was the firewall overlap separated?

just around the very edge towards the engine, which is where i noticed it pulling away. otherwise its still holding strong...didnt even break and of the factory seam sealer. i think i caught it early.

ok, all the re-enforcement pieces are in. little harder then i thought but it seems 110% stronger then before.
