Just replaced my fan clutch. I used blue permatex threadlocker and tightened with 24" cheater bar on end of wrench. I also bought the tools, in fact due to several beers, neglecting to use my walmart readers, and similar part numbers, the first set of wrenches I ordered produced a $58.00 hole in my wallet and I'm now the proud owner of fan clutch wrenches for a 300 six cylinder! Bought them on ebay so can't send em back........ Attached are some pics that may be helpful.
Couple suggestions for this job:
-The shop manual says to remove the shroud, I found it easier to remove the AC compressor.
-Loosening the bolts that attach pulley to water pump makes it much easier to engage the "forked" pulley holder.

on these torque setting in the shop manual. Even though the manual for the most part is a great doc on these engines. It have been proven wrong a few time. But I bet you will try the 40 lbs torque setting just to prove me wrong...
