Just purchased a 2000 F350 Dually Crew Cab 4x4. The stock tires size is LT235/85R16. The truck has stock suspension was looking to put a little larger tire to fill wheel well a little more being it's a 4x4 . Anybody know how big I can go and not have a problem with turning radius and front spring rubbing tires.

On my 95 F250 I run 285/ 75/ 16 and get clearance, but anything bigger would not. Fills the wheel well just right. As far as I know it's sitting stock.

1995 Ford F250 SCLB 4wd ZF5 7.3L PSD, stock.

Your bigger challenge will not be front-end clearance, but finding a width that won't be an issue with the dually rear wheels. Remember, the first unit of measure in tire size is width.

What does the four-wheel drive have to do with "filling the wheel well"? The less tire clearance you have, the MORE issues you will have with suspension travel off-road.

I'm my view it's about ground clearance. The way yours are it's hard to get taller without getting wider. I certainly won't be doing any rock crawling

285/75 on the front. 255/85 on the duels.

Just remember with a 4x4 you tires need to be the same diameter front and rear. They can be different widths, but the height is important. Just like you can't have 3.55's in the front diff and 4.10 in the rear.

The 285/75 R16 on the front is ~ 32.8 inches tall
The 255/85 R16 on the rear is ~ 33.1 inches tall

That is 3/10 of an inch or almost 1% bigger....... hopefully that size difference doesn't cause an issue.......

Overall diameter varies by tire brand/type as well. Example:
Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx - LT255/85R16 = 32.8"
Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx - LT285/75R16 = 32.91"
So the 285/75 is BIGGER rather than smaller. But by only 0.11 inches, about 0.3%. Shoot, the diff ratios vary by about that (3.55 vs. 3.54). In any event, +1 what can30 said; why muck with different sizes front/rear? What would you do when it comes time to rotate?

I've never done it myself. Just have seen it done. 255's look too skinny on the front, for me.
