Hey everyone,

Been awhile since I posted. I 'm the guy who shipped a 1994 Turbo IDI down to the Caribbean a few years ago. Truck is still running great and I sure do love it!

I recently bought a piece of land and working on building a house. The access to the land is a little tight and I'm curious if a F-350 regular cab has a better turning radius compared to an F-250 extended cab which is what I have. I would have preferred an F-350 to begin with but couldn't find one in manual in good condition. Of course the added bonus would be the Dana 60 on the front but perhaps this negates the shorter wheelbase?

If anyone knows of an F-350 with ZF-5 in decent condition, please let me know.

What bed on the EC truck?

On trucks with the same cab/bed (ie. same wheelbase), Dana 60 trucks turn a little tighter than their Dana 50 equivalents.

You have to designate a 2WD or a 4X4, my 99 F350 4X4 takes the State of Texas to turn a circle. You can Google for the turning radii of the trucks your asking about.

Haha, damn thats a big turning radius Oldbull.

Ok, I want to compare an F-250 extended cab 4x4 longbed to F-350 regular cab 4x4 longbed.

I tried the google option but couldn't find any definitive answers so thought I would consult the IDI brotherhood.

We kinda guessed from your reference to Dana 60 that we were talking 4x4. No idea of the exact numbers, but in general, you take a double-hit on the turning radius, from the longer wheelbase and from the Dana 50 under the F-250. But since it's an extended cab and not a crew cab, you'll probably only need Rhode Island to turn it around, not quite Texas.

I went from a D50 to D60 on my F250. The turning radius on the D60 is significantly better. After a year with the D60 I am still surprised...

F250 extended cab must turn like a bus.

My 94 F350 I can pull u turns at stop lights no problem, the 88 F250 I had, I was lucky to make a normal turn without having to back up and hit it again. Lol

if you got the coin, by all means, buy another truck.
the SC D60 will turn way better than a EC D50, as stated.
you could just do a straight axle swap.
maybe for the cost of shipping an entire vehicle.

on a side note, i know a few westcoasters/oil burner members that i would tell you to talk to.
maybe a custom truck!

This reminds me that I need to see if I can adjust my steering stops as my truck needs 40 acres to turn

^^^^^^ Only time I really notice the radius of our ECLB is in a tight parking lot, or a poorly laid out filling station. 'Course, our RC trucks are both Dana 50s, so it's not as great a contrast.

My 85 eclb takes more room to turn than my 00 cclb. Both 4x4s. Either way I need the back 40 to turn em around, it's just the 00 does it without hitting the boundary fence lol.
