and its lunch break!
started tearing it down @ 9 am
its 1 pm now.
i have the engine out, some of the things swapped over.
i wanted to swap everything over, but it started raining and i wanted it back in the shop.

i left the trans ratchet strapped to the frame back far enough. the hardest part about getting the ZF5 in is lifting it without a trans jack.
so i deleted the lifting lol

i left the old IP and sticks in it. i may swap my other IP/sticks over, but not right now.
i want to get it back under its own power.
this truck has spent enough time in my shop :D

o0o0o0o how nice its gonna be to have a engine that holds water!
as of 10:30 the block had been under 16 psi for more than 15 hours without a pressure drop
gonna smoke a few bowls and get back at it!

special thanks to my son, that's been a big help.

It don't look that bad. Swap your tins over when you tidy it up and it'll be pretty good.

Btw, wth, it rains in CA?

I have a old worn out trans Jack.
But hey, it works great. Lol
It's so old, parts of it look homemade. Probably rebuild it one day.

Please explain that ZF5 lifting scenario pictured. I'll be putting mine in soon and am thinking a case or two of beer to lure some friends over, but prefer to work smarter rather than harder.

What was the silver bullet on your coolant leaks?

This is what I use.

It's bolted to the motorcycle jack. Works pretty good and gives you the extra height you need. Borderline too tall to get the trans out from under the frame rails. Have to jack the rear up a touch.

There's also other trans adapters to put on floor Jack's. One of those on a low pro would be nice.

I just pulled my idi and zf5 together, boy that thing was hard to get out, it rubbed like everything. I actually pulled the chassis off the blocks with the bobcat and had to lift it back up to put it back on them. The e4od I pulled with one came right out

To pull a ZF5 with an engine attached you need to remove the shifter to clear the cab, and it's still a bit tight.

Oh yeah I realized that very quickly lol. But even with it out I was a pain getting it all to clear. I recommend a helper to help push it around to clear things.

we had a saying about in the military..
choose your rate, you choose your fate...
you can always move to the communistic state of CA LOL

im on dad duty today so not much work gonna get done today.
but I did get my injectors and IP from the other engine installed.

I don't install engine and trans combos unless the front clip is off.
I prefer to install one at a time tho, makes things less hectic.
I don't know why ive never bought a tranny jack, but I can live with out it.
hope the boys take a nap today so I can sneak out to the garage,
