elec. problems

Im having charging problems. When under accerition, my idiot gague drops down to the N in normal, let off the pedal, 50/50 chance it will go back to M or drop even lower. Even the headlights and all get dim. Replaced alt and same problem. I dont what else to look at. Also the alt. is getting very hot,hot to the touch, I dont know if thats normal, I never paid any attention to it. The battery lead wire to the alt aint getting very hot.

load test the batteries. Mabey you've got one that is shorted, it may be holding enough voltage for everything to work, but it's putting a huge load on the alt

Check the small plug in wire right at 12 o'clock next to the main batt term.

They get leaned on by everyone who works on them...and it sounds like you have a bad rectifier diode...what that small wire feeds.

Are new plug ins avaible? I also disconnted one battery at a time,still was turning over very sloppy, with two batterys, still sloppy.

Hey Geo, is that the diode thats not attached to the alt? Over near the top front of the motor?
