Ever had one go bad?

My autometer guage stopped working, power, connections and wires look good. Just trying to decide if I should order just the guage or the whole setup.

What do you guys think?

Your talking about your pyrometer thermocouple? They can be bench tested easily with a digital volt meter and a torch. If it puts out a voltage when it's heated, then it's working. Most pyro failures that I've been a party to are wiring connection issues. Because the voltages are so small, any corruption of a connection will cause it to not work right. Connections have to be very clean and tight, and free of oxidation. This includes the crimp where the terminal is on the wire. If it has been exposed to weather, your best bet is to replace the connections.

Not to hijack this thread, but I goy a pyro with my ATS, and I'm trying to figure out how to test it to make sure it works. The thermocouple and probe are at Ken's shop; I have the gauge here. The wiring looks good at least the big yellow probe wire, but there is another wire that looks like it was ripped out. I can't tell if it was just for backlighting or important to the function of the gauge itself.

The pyro that came with my Banks unit only worked for a short while. Problem on mine is with the wiring connection at the sensor. A big PITA to get to, being stashed behind the humongous air box, so it still doesn't work.
