The E40D in the 91 F250 I just bought works great but with 407,000KM on it....Well we know it's not going to last for ever. My truck was well cared for and not abused or worked to death. It mostly hauled a travel trailer since new for a retired old fart. I have 2 more E40D's, one is a 96 the other is a 97. They are both from diesels as well. The 97 worked great before I took it out, the 96 I think needs a rebuild although the 96 has a new torque converter. Will the newer style E4OD bolt into my 91 without any mod's? If mods are needed what are they? I'm keeping them for spares along with the 97 Powerstroke engine I have should my old IDI go TU....Can't see that happening anytime soon, it works too good...LOL

The torque converters are different. The IDI uses 4 studs, the PSD uses 6 studs. So you need to use an IDI converter.

The IDI and 7.3 PSD use the same trans bolt pattern so the trans will bolt right up.

You need to use the 91 solenoid pack to match the 91 computer.
