Dually Brake Drum Removal. HELP!

Found my no pedal problem tonight. Hardware seen thru the adjustment slot on the backer plate.
Only one problem, I can't figure how to get the drums off. There are the studs for the wheels to mount to, but there is another set of studs that come frome the axle faceplate that the drum assembly bolts to. The holes to access the axle stud nuts are not large enough for the size socket needed to get them off to remove the drum.
I AM LOST!

Usually the drum is held on by the wheel.

Usually the brake pads are wore into the drum and that makes a lip that holds the drum on. This makes it very difficult to get the drum off at times. You will need to do a lot of hammering followed up my some more hammering.

The drum should still come off "like normal". The only problem I had w/ mine was getting them adjusted so the drum would slid off. No extra bolts etc.

Like said before shoes have probably wore groove into drum! Try to back shoes off if you can! If not you will have to pry them loose until you break the shoes loose from the backing plate! If you have all new hardware take a wiz wheel and cut the ends off the little tabs that you use to hold the shoes on with! You can get to these from the back side of the backing plate by the leafsprings! This alows you to pull everything off! I've had to do this before to trucks! Hope this helps!

Not really, the spacers are bolted on the studs of the drum. Then the wheel is bolted on to the spacer.

The spacers that I run on my truck are like that as well, you need to have a thin walled socket to get to the lugs that hold the spacer to the wheel, then you can remove the drum.

Ron I don't know what to tell you. You cant fit a socket in the hole let a lone getting to the nut.

Is it possible that the spacer is a 2 piece design, and the first piece is bolted to the hub, and the second is held on by the wheel?... Just looking for ideas

Try the bigger hammer approach and see if the spacer will split apart.

I just taked to him on the phone and it has sort of a 2 piece design. So he removed the drum and lots of brake parts fell out.

We must have been on the same wavelength. Thanks a million dude. Looks like Goldie gets a new rear brake system ordered tomorrow. Just got to track down them spacers. Thanks for the contact info "D". Talk about an accelerated last minute learning curve. Yer right tho, glad it happen now insteard of "Lisbon bound" later.

Well $225.00 later and some serious wrenching. I got Goldie back on her feet tonight. Man what an ordeal.
Darrin, Motorstate had the spacers, one pair left. Thank goodness one of my drag racin buddies still works there. got em for $12.00 delivered. (serious butt kissing).
Just had to machine the holes abit to clear out the scrap casting and grind the rust off the studs and YEAH! back in business after a fresh set of brakes, hardware and drums.
One less thing on the "things to do" list.

Anyone who might need to replace theirs if they have the 2 piece spacers. They are by Trans-Dapt(sp) and the part #7081. That was thru Motorstate Dist. in Watervliet MI.

OK, Dangit who told. :draw I want some answers and I want them NOW!

I am more concerned of the driving distance traveled with the load Goldie will be carrying.
