I decided that since my fuel leaks were all fixed and glow plugs were working that I would take the 86 to work today. After 10 seconds on the plugs she fired right up, ran for a second then died. A few seconds of cranking and I was back in business. I know I still have air intrusion somewhere, the factory water separator is still connected and the fuel filter needs replaced(picked one up today) as I can see the o-ring is cracked. The truck runs and drives beautifully, idles really smooth and is just a real pleasure to drive. No overheating and oil pressure remains steady all day long. I only have two real questions/concerns at the moment.

1) When ever I lug the truck taking off I get a puff of white smoke.

2) When I shut the truck off and let it sit for 2-3 minutes, when I start it back up it idles really rough/erratically. I will rev it up once or twice and it smooths out instantly. It acts like air intrusion, but I didn't think it would affect it in such a short amount of time.

Your leaking fuel at the pump inlet probably. That hard line from the pump to the fiel filter has square o-rings in both ends. They are called olives and any good injection pump repair shop will have them. Try tightening up the bottom fitting at the pump inlet first. Maybe thats all it needs...

I will give that a shot, I will go look for those o-rings as well since I am sure they aren't in great shape. I did change the fuel filter today, old one was half full. I filled the new filter with diesel kleen and let it run for a bit. I have to take it in saturday to get the front end aligned before I do to much running around with it. The front end is still walking on the outside edges of the tires.

After changing the fuel filter the truck hardly smokes at all and rarely has the rough idle upon restarting. I got antsy and drove it to work again. I also went and finally cleaned 10 years worth of dust, dead bugs and other random crap out of the cab.

It didn't last long, when I took it to get aligned I turned on the defroster and a ton of crap came flying out. Debris rained all over my nice clean dash. The truck aligned pretty well, only has 1* of positive camber per side due to the extra leaves in the front. I will probably pull out one leaf per side when I go back in to change the spring bushings.

If theres one thing I can't stand is a dirty interior, and that goes for any truck/car!!!

My trucks have the cleanest interiors you can't imagine!

Exterior looks better dirty, but interior MUST be spotless!!

lol anybody that rode in my trucks all say the same thing, why the hell does your truck looks like such a piece of crap from the outside, but looks brand new inside? :D
