downpipe material

Buiulding my own 3" downpipe, what material would be good for this? Schedule 40 is masssive and overkill I think?

i used 16 gauge stainless steel. oly because i had it in stock.
this is enough to get from the turbo down to where you can fab up the rest.
i used a 1/2" 3" collector flange to make taking the down pipe off easy, well easy-ish.

Go to the local exhaust/muffler shop and get some tubing from them. Stainless is good if you can get it/work it, but aluminized steel works too. Mine is steel and it's getting close to 10 years old without any signs of significant rusting. Now, I live in CA, so that helps.
