depending on how much i can get my truck for, i may be in a better financial position on a different truck. perhaps one might call it a powerstroke. but before the bad names come just listen....
for an xl shes got a/c, cruise. single cab, long bed. 6spd, and 4 wheel disk. oh yeah and a white paint job that absolutly puts mine to shame. the guy only wants $4,799 for her. shes got 164,000. im stoked but what do you guys think?
truck for sale is the avitair. what do you think shes worth?
Anywhere from 2000-3500 in my area I'm pretty sure. It would be more expensive in some areas and much cheaper than that say in Oregon. Its highly localized market you know.
Have you ever driven a PSD with a 4R100 & a shift kit/valvebody & a good converter? If the trans is healthy those 2 things alone will make it alot better to drive. I won't own another auto without a shift kit.

those uni-bearings are awful expensive...even at our cost it was close to $700 for one side...where on our trucks we can do wheel bearings for around $50.
i thought about upgrading at one point but after driving a few SDs with gassers and one 6.0 i didnt care much for the lack of low end but does it boogy when the boost builds, heh. i havent driven a SD 7.3 but im sure its on par or a little better then a OBS 7.3.
i have to admit i have not, i have ridden in a 97 with the spring kit etc in the E40D and the owner is not happy with his trans either.
part of it is my own fault for opting to spend only 450 on a ferd TC instead of 1200 on an aftermarket one when i had my TC done and another part of it is when i tried to have a shift kit installed the mechanic couldn't get the kinks worked out and i ended up getting the truck back with a stock trans and a new stock TC. this was due the the TC rattle the early '99 TCs had.
i know if i threw another couple grand at the trans it might work better but i'm stubborn. 2 grand for a trans or 5k for an entire sweet IDI CC complete with a pile of spare parts and a turbo kit, what would you have done?
i have been babying my 4R100 for some time now, when it does crap out i will get a better trans built. i like the truck enough to keep it around and it's a great work truck. the IDI works too in the summer months but it's more of a working toy than a work truck.
if it came down to it and i had to sell one i would have to think long and hard about it but i think i'd sell the SD and keep the IDI, even if i had to run it in the winter.

well its good to know either wayBTW why is everyone talking about unit berrings & cost when the guy is looking at a 2wd Superduty that doesn't even have unit berrings? Same goes for the tranny since it was a ZF-6 manual.
