Just curious guys... What's a fool-proof way to tell if you have a SMF or DMF in your rig?

Bought this truck with 230K +/- on it and slowly been working out the weak links (like n/a condition, lol) and been thinking about this.

Any input is welcome.

A SMF looks like any other clutch flywheel. But, a DMF has a plate on the front with the clutch spring all in one unit. I will post a pic of a DMF shortly.

Was hoping to be able to tell w/out dismantling anything. Any special noises a DMF makes or some method like that?

Well if you shut the truck off and it makes a horrible clunking then it is probably a DMF

With it in neutral, try rotating the pressure plate.
If she moves with the flywheel moving, you have a dual mass.
