Mel, good deal. Ken needs some competition. Its a bit more expensive but at least you won't not call somebody back for 3 months well worth it. I'll let some other people be the guinea pigs and see how far they can push it before it pukes and use that as reference for myself. Thanks for going to trouble and expense to R&D this thing. MetroJD is the first Moose Pump owner (that's his pump in the picture). He just hasn't had time to install it yet. Look for some feedback from him. My builder tells me that this pump puts out so much, he didn't feel it was necessary to turn it up all the way. Ist still has about 3 flats to go. I also have one for immediate sale to any interested party. I've been getting questions about injectors. No, I don't have any YET. I'll need to fund R&D on those, and I'm still trying to catch up from the pump investment. I'm not convinced doing them the DPS way is best. I'm interested to see how these pumps work with stock injectors for now.

Mel I don't want to stir anything up so if you wanna PM me thats fine but didn't you have a DPS pump on the moose truck? I seem to remember you having some problems with it did you just use it as part of the R&D and how do they compare to each other ? Did you have this pump on at the rally? I'm thinking you didn't and its good to have some options I just found an injection shop that said these IDI's are good motors and can build whatever you can afford
Aric, you are correct. I DID have a DPS pump on the Moose truck at the rally.
The Moose Pump is a different animal than the DPS pump. Both pumps put out radically more fuel than stock, but our timing curve is different than DPS. I think the Moose Pump definitely fuels better. Because of my fuel selector valve problem on the way out, and loss of a lot of fuel, I decided not to get a milage figure, so I can't give you any MPG comparisons, but I think the Moose Pump may do better due to the timing differences. Mine is a 6.9 style pump, simply because that's what I had to work with. I'm quite happy with the fueling it is giving me. The 7.3 pumps I can offer have the same rate of fueling as the 6.9 pump, but actually have some reserve capacity for even more if it is needed. Either pump out of the box will make entire lanes of traffic disappear from your rear view mirror.

and then (unfortunately) it suffered a leak at the nose cone due to a faulty O-ring.

I attempted to repair the leak myself with my rebuilder's guidance and suceeded, but in the process I got some of Joe's O-ring lube somewhere that I shouldn't have, and that messed up the pump. I had to have my guy go over it again, which he did for me at no charge, thus showing he stands behind his product. He appologized for the leak, which couldn't have turned up on the test bench since there is no practicle way to simulate the heat and vibration of an engine. It was a simple problem, but obviously I compounded things trying to fix it myself. Because of this, I was under the gun on Friday to put the DPS pump back on, and between the heat, the pain and burning of my hands, and everybody leaving while my truck was inoperative combined with the deadline to leave the campground by checkout, really had me wondering if any of this was really worthwhile. By Tuesday, I had the Moose Pump fixed, and back on the truck. It has been fine since. This time I'm going to get my intercooler project done well in advance of next years rally! Well it's too late to get a DPS powered video. After swapping pumps 15 million times for this project, I'm done with wrenching on the Moose Truck! The wife thinks we should bring the Moosestang to the cone, and leave the other trucks at home, price of fuel being what it is and all. Plus I still have that cracked windsheild to deal with on the Moose Truck, which is currently a constant source of irriation. I should be able to do a video at some point with the Moose Pump on there, but my testimony alone won't do that much to bolster confidence. I need some other folks to buy into the program. I'm sure if we get John's truck done that will make a good comparison, since it is more representative of the average bear around here. Maybe we can make a video of that one too.
