Any news on your measurements Dieselcrawler? I sure appreciate your efforts to help me identify an option.

I had to use spacers on both sides of my inner wheel when I went up in tire size.
Old
Hercules Terra Trac AT ll 215/85 R16 E
Tread width 8.4 in
Overall diameter 30.31 in

New
Hercules Terra Trac AT ll 285/75 R16 E
Tread width 11.50
Dia 32.60 in

I used the Ford 8 x 6.5 dualie adaptors
http://www.wheeladapter.com/Ford_dually_wheel_spacers.php

My rig is converted to 4WD, and needed a 5" lift in the back just to level it after a Dana 60 went under the front. The new tires rubbed on the leaf spring U bolt assembly without inner spacers.

^^^ so your outer wheel is now 4" farther from the wheel bearings than it should be with a heavier/wider tire? Sounds like a recipe for a lost wheel or two.

He said 5" lift, not 5" spacers. Did I miss something?

Your point is well taken. It is indeed additional stress on the bearings. I do most of my driving on the highway, and nothing off road, and wanted larger diameter tires for a taller final drive ratio.
