sounds odd the fuel pump went with the filter change. mine turned out to be the filter itself leaking out the bottom seal. drove me nuts a little because it didnt do it all the time, then i caught it.

From what I understand if you bump thse injectors wrong they can form leaks.....but maybe I am wrong....

wasn't the pump a mechanic thinks its a injector pump

A genuine diesel mechanic, or some guy with wrenches ??

Your situation reads to me like symptoms of air-invasion into the fuel-lines.

This could be from anywhere in the fuel-system with likely culprits being the pick-up inside the tank, or the lines.

I don't think you have an injector-pump problem causing this.

im having the same issues as we speak i think its in my tank or the lift pump try switching to the other tank to see what happens so far is working for me it ran today for 2 straight hours outside.so i think its the pickup in my front tank

its fairly common for the pickup to break off in the tank making the last 1/4 of the tank un-usable and letting you sit. best option if this happens is to ditch the stock rubber pickup and put a piece of hose to reach the bottom in. just make sure you cut a couple of V's in so it cant suction to the bottom of the tank.
