custom transmission adaptors ?

Can anyone tell me where the best place to get a custom bellhousing made or a custom bellhousing adaptor ? I want to bolt up my 91 7.3L to a 1980 Dana Spicer CM5252A 5 speed transmission.

Do you know what SAE pattern that tranny has? Also see if IH used that tranny behind the 7.3, if so you should find the adapter in a salvage yard! Good luck and let every body know how it goes. Pictures and everything. Btw I think the back of the 7.3 is an SAE 2 the tranny you are looking at may be an SAE 3. That seems to be pretty common.

Ok, I was doing some reading and came across a thread on thedieselgaage and people were saying that if I remove the ford transmssion adaptor plate of the idi block I can bolt it directly up to any dana transmission with a sae #3 bellhousing. The guy doing he conversion said he talked to navistar, they old him that all international medium duty truck motors all have a sae #3 blot pattern on the block. He also got told that ford installed their own adaptor plate so the 6.9s and 7.3s would bolt up to the ford transmissions. So it looks like Ill have no problems with my conversion if this is all true. Can anyone from this site verify this ?

I was doing some thinking and I realized that without the ford adaptor plate I won't have anywhere to mount my starter. So it looks like I need to go find a IHC S series truck at a salvage yard that has a 6.9 or a 7.3L bolted up to a dana spicer 5000 series transmission. Another option is to get a local engine builder/machine shop to mke a adaptor plate for me.
