So a good day of work and my truck will be back on the road...but I've got a problem. Is the bolts on the motor mount different from a 6.9 to a 7.3? I can't get the bolts started...wondering if i messed the threads up putting the engine in? I'm talking about the bolts that go through the cross member if i didn't make myself clear...

Loosen the mounts and lift the engine so the mounts can move around a bit. The mount might be slightly out of alignment.

Ok ... can you change the motor mounts without pulling the engine. Guess I need to take the mounts off the 7.3 and use them. Messed up a stud trying to rethread it...

not sure the years but my 6.9 takes a nut with 3/4" socket 1/2" stud? I got a 7.3 out of a '89 and they take a 18mm Metric stud maybe.

Yep..my 7.3 took a 18mm wrench to get the nut off. So I bet there is a difference in the nut size between the two.

Shouldn't be, when I put my 7.3 into my '85 I used the nuts from the 6.9 on the 7.3 mounts since the nuts were missing on it.

Of course you could be dealing with aftermarket (Chinese) motor mounts there.

OK...swapped the motor mounts today. Put the 7.3 mounts on and the nuts went right on but wouldn't with the 6.9 mounts. It sounds crazy but I think the threads are different...

i just went from a 87 6.9 to a 94 7.3
everything was the same.
minus the turbo!
i had to use the 6.9 flywheel on the 7.3 due to lack of bell housing room.
i coulda swore those nuts under the frame, were 19MM, guess im wrong.
im hoping the intakes swap over too..

You know I have run into this before with 1/2 x 13 nuts and some bolts. I have gotten some that have been 18mm sized, but I have also used others that are 19mm. It may be a difference of the outside size of the nut. I am sure someone will chime in with a reasoning to this.
