IDIoit (or anyone else), is there a power level where the main studs and girdle are recommended?

from my research main stud and girdle kit isnt really necessary for anything shooting for under 400 hp.
i actually destroyed my first engine with one!
when i torqued the caps the stud twisted and cracked the block.
if you use one make sure to loctite the studs and install then 1/2 turn out.
then let sit overnight.
