Crappy FM radio reception - Bricknose

I like the look of my stock radio in the F250. However, the FM reception is not good. Stations I can easily pick up 30-40 miles outside of town in other vehicles, are nonexistent in the F250. In-town, the radio works fine.

I'm wondering if I should spend some time taking the radio out, chasing the antenna wiring and cleaning connections, or will that just be a waste of time?

Personally I hate the look of virtually all of the single-din car radios available on the aftermarket, but if I can't at least get some decent performance out of the FM radio stations i'll have to throw one in.

The first place I would check is the connection under the antenna, I’ve had to clean it on my obs trucks a few times over their lifetimes. There’s some old looking radios that hide all the modern amenities, but they are real pricey

One thing I have noticed with the factory radios; They will out perform most aftermarket radios as far as picking up distant stations. While their sound quality is not that great, I have always been impressed with the factory radio in how it pulls in stations.

I would go over the antenna system like you said. For FM, your antenna whip should be 31 inches long.

I'll agree to an extent, if you are buying cheap units....
You can also get a signal booster.
