i heard that someone had posted the part numbers for the individual studs,nuts,& washers for the 7.3 and it was listed as a sticky as critical parts numbers, but i cant find it ? anyone seen any post like that ?

I posted those before, but with the site being updated currently, I can't find it with the search function. Aggie found the numbers though.

the search database was reconstructed a few days ago. you should be able to search and find what you were looking for. can you shoot me a pm with the thread info your looking for so i can replicate the issue

I posted the part numbers for the above studs and parts but I got the stud number from typ4. Russ was the first ember to use these bulk 7 inch long studs in our 7.3 engine. I bought the 12 point nuts and washers seperatly from ARP. Now ARP has an actuall kit for our 7.3 engine and the stud length is finally the correct length at around 6.700 inches. The bulk 7 inch long stud works fine but it was never intended for our engines. It just happens to work. I have heard that DPS was making the studs again too but I have no proof to go with this statement. A call to Ken might inlighten us too. At one time Ken was the only shop that had a stud for our 7.3 and they were H13 matrial at 270,000 psi. The stock 7.3 bolt breaks at 153,000 psi and the ARP stud breaks at 200,00 or 220,000 psi. Any stud in these engines can be reused many times over where the bolts will fatigue after several uses. Studs are not a necessary item even if we install a turbo but they are a cheap insurance that nothing is going to blow out a head gaskets. Its about the second best upgrade that can be made to these engines too. A turbo being the best upgrade. I ran my stock na engine with a turbo and no studs for several hunderd thousand miles with never a head gasket failure. Just one cylinder lost to cavitation. These are strong factory built engines with very few rod or crank failures over the last 25 years. Although it seems some turbo 7.3 pistons have failed more than a non turbo piston lately. No reason for that yet either.
