Sounds like a leak at the intake gasket could go right into the lifter valley down into the pan. If you reused the gasket it could be your problem.

No -- it is a new valley pan .

I went thru about the same thing with my 90. Finally got so bad it hydrolocked, cavitation in #6 cyl. The valve cover on drivers side had sludge in it like a waxy substance. I would certainly check it for cavitation.

This is true especially if the CDR tube is not sealing well to the valley pan. Run the truck for a little while and without burning yourself, feel down around the bottom of the CDR tube and if it feels wet, then that could be the cause of the issues.

On the other hand, oil cooler cores can corrode and new seals can get pinched and not seal.
