I silenced all the skeptics at today about the capabilites of an old IDI...I chained it to a FL120 tandem 30ft box truck with a bunk, ISM Cummins and hauled it from it's berth in the snow bank.....4L in first gear with 2 or 3 good jerks and the tail was wagging behind my old IDI dog.....They weren't saying too much about that "old Ford" when I was towing it across the parking lot.....The chevy lover was red in the face as I tried to goat him into trying to move it first and he refused.

One time about 18 years ago in a blizzard in Nebraska , I had a corner on a dirt road give way on me and me trailer wheels slid off into a ditch up to the axle and then some ( They;d had flooding the week before so the road was all gushy, couldn't hold the weight ). and I was loaded with about 44k pounds of bricks A fella with a f250 4x4 backed up to my front bumper and offered to pull me out. I thought he was nuts, but I knew I wasn't getting a wrecker out there for hours or maybe days with that storm so I sais sure, give it a shot. One tug and we were on flat road again While he was unhooking that strap I was handing that boy a hundred dollar bill and I was on my way to a nice warm motel ( where I got buried under a 12 ft snow drift by morning, sure beat the heck out of sitting in the truck out on a dirt road a few miles from town)

I will give my 7.5ft Diamond plow prop's as well....It was hanging on the front of the old Ford putting lots of weight on the D60 front end.

my friend has a 99 chevy 2500 4wd CC. everytime they go to move the gooseneck horse trailer or even the small garbage trailer from their places i get a call. in about six inches of snow the chevy couldnt even budge the full garbage trailer as he spun them as fast as he could. called me, got hooked up, and let off the brake and we were movin! the trailer even had one flat tire! with the gooseneck, if it has to go off road we dont even try it with the chevy. saves more time and effort to just put it on mine!

i had a chevy electrical delivery truck slide off the driveway in the snow on a jobsite. a buddy wanted to pull it out... with his new-to-him '99 chevy 1500 4x4. so we hooked it up and he spun his cute little tires and got no where. so i hooked up my f250 to it. put it in reverse and idled the delivery truck back up on the driveway. the delivery guy said "gotta love a ford truck!" my buddy with the chevy still comments on my ford truck even though he still has his chevy.

the biggest think i ever moved was a 40 yard dumpster full of roofing and framing rubble. i hooked up to it and dragged it about 50 feet to make way for the dumpster truck. this was with my F250 RC 6.9 4x4

Theres a reason why old fords are still on the road. They are built better than anything else. Thats why they cost more brand new. The IH is just icing on the cake.

i moved a 12ft box scraper that had the wheels all the way up, hooked up and just idled it along (goosed it a little at the end just for fun) it was on hard packed asphalt filings though so it didn't load up. when i heal up i think me and a couple buddies are going to put it on some regular dirt and have us a little poormans sled pull.

i think the hardest thing i've ever had to pull was a industrial size dumpster trash compactor. on six legs it caught on fire and we had to pull it away from the building really fast. 4low and opened her up. dragged it about 500ft. off concrete onto asphalt i ripped asphalt out of the driveway with it. bounced the tires at first but then it settled down and pulled like a mother! shoulda seen the employees at the building watch that!
