Cheating tool list for gp under turbo

I'll finally be going to round 2 of trying to get my one truck started again. We left off (on Facebook) replacing all glow plugs.

What sucks is my tools are 35 minutes from my truck. Even if I get my box towed there, there is nowhere to store it. So I need to go very prepared haha. I've read over and over that it is possible to get the difficult plugs without removing the stock turbo. Could someone give me the tools they've used to do this?

The truck I'll be working on is a 94 7.3t bronco.

It is not starting. New starter and batteries.

I've cracked five lines, maybe six (?) and have lots of fuel at the injectors.

I've had the heater on for about 2 hours at time of no start.

Squirting does not change no start.

Bought brand new dealer glow plugs.

I use a 1/4" ratchet set with swivel to get the glow plugs out. I did take an extra 10mm deep well socket and ground it down to it just fits the top of a glow plug. You can't use a regular socket on the glow plugs and under the turbo the full deep well socket is too deep. Now if you had a set of mid length 1/4" drive sockets you might be OK.

deep sockets, Swivel extensions, 1/4" drive sockets, bendable wrenches, I've even used a socket-to-drill adapter and harbor freight wrench for turning tool bits

That one under the turbo is a PITA. I have had good luck breaking it loose with an open end wrench and then slipping a chunk of vacumn hose over it to spin it out. Make sure you use some PB blaster or the like to make it spin a little easier.

OK all 8 new glows. New relay - old one was cracked. Charging batteries...

The only concern I have is spraying never got it going either

Carefull on that ether, it'll possibly bend rods if the GP's are on. All your above comments, tell's me ya ain't spinning fast enough.

It lives!!!
So I got all mentally panicked about it being diesel and forgot my basics. I feel very stupid.
I looked at it and was like "what would Mel and Corey do?"
Well they would first see the cable ends and have heart attacks. So I replaced them and routed everything correctly.
Then I started the truck.
My instructor used to scream at us when we over complicated things. "KISS!!! KISS!!!"
Keep it simple, stupid!

I understand that in troubleshooting. I was a computer tech for many years, and my partner or I would be working on something and beating our head on the wall. The other would start asking questions, and we had a rule, never get mad at a question, just check and answer it. Sometimes when you had been messing with the power supply on a computer for HOURS and you can't get it to work..... sometimes you have to make sure the other end of the plug is plugged in......

Or the one call I had, I can't get this to power up.... I look at the power strip and ask if it is plugged in. The person huffed yes and said see, and ran their hand from where the cord entered the body of the power strip, to the plug, where it was plugged in, to the outlet strip they couldn't get to work..... oops.....

Had to take the car a couple times last winter before I switched to synthetic oil in the Ex. The truck was plugged into the cord, someone had unplugged the cord in the garage..... it was cold enough that I could not move that molasses fast enough to get the truck started...... have to be careful of that this year..... they are BOTH diesel now... no gassers..... but they both have synthetic oil.... so should be good to go.

That is the plan for this year. Since both will be sitting outside and be plugged in when it is cold. My power bill is always high, so I just plug mine in all the time...... I like heat when I get in.......

I'll never forget the one time I tried to start our old IH Boom truck. DT466 w/manual fuel shut off. It does have a fuel bleed-down issue, so I used the hand primer pump for a while and then cranked and cranked. had the charger on the batts, a buddy in the cab cranking while i sprayed ether, nothing. all of a sudden I thought of the fuel shutoff. Yep, still pulled out from last time i shut truck off...............................................................
