If you are serious, you should contact the guy and let him know I'm local. If you make a deal for it, you could certainly Paypal him and I could pick it up for you.

Just a heads up: the Northwest is awesome, but don't come up until after 4th of July. Winter is wet up here :)

If you'd be willing to do that, I would be very grateful ;Sweet

I've been up that way once; it was a great trip...if it wasn't for family keeping me in California, I'd seriously think about finding an excuse to move up there.

If no one else on here wants to make a go for it, I'll give the guy a call tomorrow and see if he'll take PayPal, and we'll go from there!

I sure "want it" but have no need for it nor a place to store it as a spare. I do know this... If it was just me driving my crewcab it would be a ZF 5 speed and the Gear Vendors behind that. The wifey is shiftless but she knows how to shift. Just chooses not to row gears. This rig I have is only the second vehical I have had that was not a standard trans setup. I like rowing gears better than an auto... At the 2009 rally after Mel installed my second Moose pump we went for a test drive... I scared the hell out of him because we were shifting mnually up thru the gears approaching an interseciton street with a stop sign. Wont say what the speedo said but Mel commented that if I ws going to drag race it that day at the drag event he was not going to race me or any E4OD equipted truck. He felt what the BTS heavely modified trans is capable of. I have a little over $8000.00 in that trans and Gear Vendors but its well worth the 8 forward gears I have. What I have is for the lazy driver but what I really think is the best is what Robert has. The ZF with the 3 speed brownie behind that... He has 15 forward gears and 3 gears in reverse.. I have seen it... I have worked on it. Its something that wil never run out of gear choices....

I just called the guy...the moment he knew I wasn't local, he hung up on me. I think that he thought i was a scammer or something like that, but it still struck me as more than a little bit rude. I did get a bit of info, FWIW...on the one hand, it's out of a PSD truck, which means that it should be an S5-47 (I was going to ask him to E-mail me a pic of the data plate before he hung up on me), but Reverse is cranky and it has 300K+ miles on it. I still contend that the price is fair for what it is, but if anyone else pursues it, I would treat it as a rebuildable core and not expect to buy it and put it in a truck without going through it first.

Just my $.02...

Thanks Tim for "sticking your neack out there"... If I was attempting to sell something I sure would listen to what the buyer had to say.. Being polite is the way to do business. When I personally want something I make an offer on what it is based on what it is and what condition its in. I'm not a low baller at what I do but some feel thats whats going on. I just sold a 1979 YZ250F. I bought it new in 1981 June. Last time I rode it was 1985. Actually never rode it that year but paid the offroad fee. I offered it for $1000.00. It still had the oem front and rear tire and the trans oil in it. I rode it maybe 12 or 15 times never racing it... Well some boob told me it was worth $800.00 because the crank seals were dried up and once you crack the case may as well bore it and replace the top and bottom end???*** is all that about. It sat in my collection all this time and started rite up. It needed an air filter because the oem filter fell apart when I removed it to clean it for the new owner. It was a shiny perfect machine worthy of cow trailing or museum piece. I tried to get thru to the guy but he was having none of that. Said a low ball offer would have been $500.00 and I didn't have any mechanical background to know the differance in a dried out bottom end. I took offence to that so I politely explained my background up thru the nuclear work I did in the machine shop for that last part of my working career and thank you for your honesty but... This bike is no longer for sale to you... Now hows that working for you... Please... No need to retunr a comment. I will not respond nor will I open it.. But thanks al the same...:D Well the bike sold for $1200.00 and I drove the 45 miles and delievered it to the happy new owner. Its simpley amazing how many scammers there are out there trying to rip off sellers. We all should crash this guys ZF mail box with questions in differant worldly languages and accents... See how he likes that.. But is anyone does call him please don't upset him by telling him your from out of state.. Just get as much info as you can.

I just called to and left a very clear and concise message regarding the transmission including I'm from Canada, I hope to hear back from him because if this is an S47 I'm maybe going to see about getting it as that's my much preferred transmission for my truck and my needs.

Just sayin

Because I'm "a local", and because I can't settle for anything less than "premier customer service" LOL, I just called the guy and left him a message asking for the id tag. Kind of interesting that he didn't take my call from the local area code :dunno

Stay tuned.....

Interesting...I wonder if he'll get back to you and/or Al.

If he does get back to you, go and buy it and, after the money's been transferred and it's in your truck, tell him you're selling it to some guy in San Francisco and see how he reacts LOL
