OK, as some of you know, getting my 7.3 top end back together after head gaskets.

Well, this engine has the look of an orig engine. The orig CDR up-tube was cast rubber, one piece, grommet & tube. That was petrified and broke when removed from valley pan.

Have gotten a near-new CDR and tube from Hydro-idi (thx much, Ian!), but the walls of the new tube are much thinner, and do not fit tightly into the valley pan grommet, which came with the valley pan.

Hydro-idi sent me a pic (author unknown). This shows an adapter? that joins the tube and grommet for a tighter fit. Am not seeing this adapter in any parts diagrams and listings.

Did I read in an older thread that I can just RTV the loose tube to the grommet, or what?

NOT panicking here, turns out that the CDR-to-intake donut was sitting on the valley pan when I started this project. Wondered why it was so messy atop the engine.. a loose fit on the tube CAN'T make tHIS much mess! LOLLOLLOL

That would be great, homelessduck. Am needing that orange piece on the left..... :hail

Will be at the local NAPA warehouse tomorrow, for molded heater hoses and special connectors to connect to the heater core (!!?) Will see if they have a thicker-walled hose than the new CDR hose.

My old one fits nicely into the grommet, but is now too short. :frustrate

Luckily, the CDR and tube are easily accessed through my inside "doghouse" cover.

And, thanks, Towcat! ABSOLUTELY a way worse mess than mine! :puke:

EDIT: HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY MEMBER dgr THAT THIS HOSE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PETROLEUM OIL. THEREFORE, CAN NO LONGER SUGGEST THIS HOSE FOR THIS PURPOSE!!!!!!!!
