I can turn it on and go through the 40 channels but no one is ever there. I figure at the least i can use it at pismo or when backing up the trailer with a spotter.

That is because CB radio died years ago. The only people on these days are the truckers and the loud mouths with illegal linear amplifiers talking to themselves.

You'd be surprised. Alot of 11 meter traffic is region dependent. That little Uniden oughta do fine with a good antenna system. What do you have in the way of that? Those 25's can be some BAAAAD little radios when properly tweaked. You may just wanna open the case up and blow it out with some kind of aerosol cleaner...like the dust keyboard things from Office Max.

CB dead? when they shut down I-95 about 12 miles from where I live there was so much radio traffic that I had to turn mine off. Its not like in the 70's though only guys now that have them are big rigs and pick-ups.

As stated in my OP the only ones using them are truckers and illegal linear runners. If you live near an interstate then yes you will hear a lot going on but if you don't live near an interstate you wont hear anything.

As someone else said it is region dependent. The region that I live in CB died in the mid 80's.

That's cause ya'll New Jersians are dedicated to the "Fist Pump" ha ha J/K. it is very much so region dependent. I talk skip across the country/world all the time and the majority of stations I contact are in what I call rural states. Tennessee, Mississippi, NC, SC, Kentucky, louisiana, etc etc. I'm WORLDWIDE!

well i mounted mine first on the tranny tunel then moved it to the dash
i dont like mounting off the roof nust not my thing
the seat thing i thought about but it would take too much beating

o and i got a gearkeeper hanging the mic from the mirror and love it but i still have the mount on the side of the gauge cluster area as a just in case etc. thing

How do you like that gearkeeper? I thought about getting one but wasn't too keen on it and was kind of worried about movement during those bouncing around in the woods moment. I was going to mount it where your gauges are....but, A) My cig lighter works and I like a cigar every once in awhile and B) it plain just wouldn't clear. Like I said, heat is what kills a radio...I wish i were still radio ignorant.

I mounted my uniden under neath the steering column and the mike is attached the the sun visor, which would be ok for a small unit. The LTD29 and larger radios would be a problem tho.

I got one for free now I just need to do some rewiring.......or just take it to a shop and let them do a few modifications to the circuit board

I have an RCI 2950 for that... with a little heat That's in the house for my base setup though.
