Cavitation worries

Hey I acquired a new to me 1994 idi factory Turbo truck at 186k on the clock. For squirts and grins I got my sca test strips out to check the concentration in the coolant and found no trace. I added sca to it but how worried should I be with previous possible damage

Worrying does absolutely no good. I would just run it until it really exhibits symptoms of cavitation. If and when that day comes, you will have to make the decision whether to rebuild or find another engine. Or you could start rebuilding an engine now. That way when the engine does crater, you will have a fresh rebuild ready to go.

Yup , worrying will just make you crazy. Have a plan B. If you realy like the truck Keep a eye open for a Parts truck and Rebuild a sweet replacment engine. and swap it in later down the road. With all those miles, how is the IP? or the water pump. Anything can happen

well the ip doesnt show any signs of problems it idles smooth. water pump is working lol all i can say its a lil dirty so i dont figure its been changed.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't worry at all. Cavitation is stopped dead in it's tracks by SCA. Unless the cylinders were really, really close to boring through, as long as you don't have any cav issues right now, if you keep up on the sca's you most likely never will.

In my line of work we service some really large high volume recirculating water pumps, even the ones with significant impeller/housing damage are usually saved by increasing the additives in the loop water.
