I just recently finally swapped in the rear springs from a 1994 F350 to "even-up" my truck after putting the Dana 60 under it in 2013. It was a bit nose high that whole time. Better late than never! I used the 4" blocks and through it all it obviously has changed my driveshaft geometry a bit. I get a loud driveline hum at low RPM now that wasn't there before and I'm just assuming it is because the carrier bearing is too high. Ford never made Extended cab F350 4x4 trucks in this era that I know of so I don't thing any factory carrier bearing brackets exist for my application.

Do you just add some spacers until the shaft is straight again? I've never done driveline work like this before.

Just about anyone that makes lift kits for our trucks also make carrier bearing drop brackets.

They are basically C-channel, so you could make a spacer by measuring to about where it needs to be relocated and use a piece of box tubing the appropriate size. Drill 2 holes to mount to factory crossmember and 2 more on the other side to mount the carrier bearing. I still imagine there would be some flex, but then you'd have to get creative with gussets and adding material to connect them to as to stabilize everything. I'm sure it could be over engineered very easily.

Except that you don't want the joint quite perfectly straight. It needs a little bit of angle so things wear evenly. At least that's what I've been told.

the problem is that if you drop that, then the angle on the fron joint is wrong. If you google 2 piece driveshaft angles, it should get you a good start on what needs to be done to make it right. When I added an aux trans to my truck, I had to mess with the angle on all 3 joints to get it right. Mine is setup now so that there is .5 degree angle on the front joint, and the rear joint angles match under load.

The rear lift blocks I bought were tapered. I hadn't thought about it but I bet that's why. It should make up for the change in driveline angle at the pinion without having to change the carrier bearing. They tip the housing up a touch. They were a rear lift kit for a newer truck too.
