I’ve even read it in the Ford shop book, so I’m confident that it's real, and I’m not trying to debate whether or not it’s true. I can picture how it could collapse wrist pins, crack pistons, bend rods, and even tulip valves. I just want to understand what it is about advanced timing that will slowly break away the GP tips. Vibration?

The shock from the early combustion so in a way you can look at as vibration. The reason the glow plugs will show the fatal signs first is because they are most fragile item in the mix.

Is this gonna play a factor in my quest for higher idle at the flip of the switch with the CIA circuit??????

Rob did it say as far as any length of time, short or "over time"?

Ron, all it says is:

"Glow plug tip that is missing can be caused by incorrect timing or poor fuel quality (Figure 22)."

I think you will be ok with the cold fast idle, its the cold timing advance that you wouldn’t want to have on for long periods of time

Thanks for the explanation Travis. "they are most fragile item in the mix" that's an answer I can picture and live with.
