Can a head gasket be reused after head torqueing????????????

I'm sure it's a typo; I've seen a few typos over the years in the various shop manuals (including the Ford FSM). Doesn't make it a good thing, though...yikes!! :shocked:

And I'll join the choir and recommend against re-using the head gasket. It may be okay and may not, but why take the chance and risk doing it twice? Just the gasket by itself isn't that expensive...and is well worth the peace of mind IMHO...

in that first pic you can see the unbroken bolt streched thinner near the shank.

Yeah for 7.3 N/A it's 100ft-lbs and 110 ft-lbs for the factory turbo "C" or "K" engines if I remember right. You might get away with 125 with studs, but it is too much for headbolts. That having been said, follow ARP torque recommendations when using your new studs or you're on your own.
