lol I got a tranny for my lil car with bad sincros and they told me i could have store credit and i couldn't exchange. cause they don't have another one lol. well not funny but ya they lost my bis unless its body panel they don't break.

I have an 04 Focus that dropped the upper end and killed the lower. Needed a replacement, only problem, it's a 2.3l.... yeah, the big one. 2.0's all over the place, dime a dozen. Finally got one after 9 months of looking. A&B got it. It's been running for a year now, can't complain.
FWIW- any parts designed to transmit/transfer power is a crap shoot in a wrecking yard.
A wrecker in S.Bay tried to pass off a cracked 2.3 as running take out..... sure, if I had a garden hose long enough to run around with me.

you did and thank you. just sharing my expirence cause the tranny an clucth a paid almost 800 bucks. the car books for 2200 kelly blue. now im so far in the hole with it and stuck with it thats all. I do buy parts from them for our body shop. just never bought a mechanical stuff and had bad luck my first time i don't have alot of money and i just thought they coulda gave me half my money back the tranny was only supposed to have 60,000 miles out of an insurance car. I am doing a service on it today and checking the filp and see whats going on with it. I put a new tranny cooler on last night and it's running better than it was.

If they wouldn't have ashured me that it would be a good tranny I would have expected that and delt with it. But I was told low miles and it's in good working order.

I almost got that $1k tranny myself, but decided to have my old one rebuilt instead.... for the very reasons you laid out. Of course, I used my turbo money to do it with, got tranny, no turbo.
I totally know what you mean by spending more on the old girls than what they're worth. The only reason I do it is, I really like the truck and I see it as a long term keeper.
Bought the truck for $1,500, already spent over $3500 on it, just upgrading and replacing worn out rubber, IP system and other little stuff. Still, very happy to do it.
The things I see with these trucks and most common failures are- entire fuel system, brakes, and some minor electrical issues followed by trannies. That said, look how many miles these things are giving us, and what they're asked to do. Add to it the general age, and these are some wicked awesome trucks!
Besides, no way I'm paying $50-$60k for a truck I beat up! That I can't generally work on without a $2500 software program. Eff THAT!

NO NO NO OUR TRUCKS ARE WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!
Im talking about my 99 Hyonda accent 5 sp its gay and my 89 only gets 8 mpg less than that car everything works perfect in it A/C and all. but its a 1.3 litter and I can run faster than it. As for the new 93 I got it's worth every penny. My 89 has 9 grand in it now and I LOVE IT SHE"S GETTING HER CLASSIC CAR INSURANCE
I completly agree on the new trucks my 89 shows emm all up trust me and now THE JOKES ON THEM when I post the thread on my trucks over haul for the last 6 Months you will under stand why the jokes on them. Now the JOKE is on them!!!!!!!!!!!
